Thank you and farewell to one of our very special peoplec
MS Sandra Abe, our resident winter intensive flower design instructor and winner of many awards, sadly, is leaving Japan to return to Hawaii. We shall miss her presence in the staff room and the students will especially miss her classes on Art Appreciation and Flower Design. She has contributed a great deal of her time and energy to her students and has brightened our school with her contributions of flowers for many years. During the 6 week intensive, we have been lucky enough to receive many of the blooms not used in class. We shall miss her generous donations that helped us to go home in a cheerful mood.
This yearfs floral display was the result of 5-6 lessons that focused on teaching the basic elements of floral design. The students had a series of lessons before they prepared a display for a final showing - 87 visitors voted on colour harmony, creativity and originality and technique and balance.
The final results were:
1st prize #10 Yuki Ito
2nd prize #7 Marie Nishikawa
3rd prize #2 Tomoko Koyama
Special for originality #9 Ayaka Nozawa
A glimpse of some of the entries...
First place front, back and from above - a very interesting piece for a spot that can be seen from all sides. Congratulations, Yuki
